Anthony DeMattei has been a proud resident of Placer County since 1996. He and his family own and operate Highland Orchard, a mandarin ranch in Penryn, where they grow mandarins and other produce while also crafting value-added products. While they’ve managed the ranch since 2017, his family’s roots in California farming stretch back over a century. As a longtime business owner, Anthony understands the importance of maintaining a balanced budget and following through on commitments. He also knows the challenges and rewards that come with managing every aspect of a business.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, which, combined with hands-on farming experience, has helped him navigate their family business through significant challenges, including catastrophic floods in 1997 and recent economic hardships. Remaining stable during these events has allowed him to support others in our community. During the pandemic and wildfires, he was proud to deliver fresh fruit and produce to businesses and organizations helping those affected by the crises. Providing healthy food for people is one of the most fulfilling aspects of what he does.
Prior to serving on the Board of Supervisors, Anthony served on the Placer County Planning Commission, a role that reflects his dedication to public service and his passion for contributing to our community. He believes we are all called to serve in different ways and feels privileged to serve as your District 3 Supervisor. His goal is to ensure that Placer County remains a wonderful place to live, work, and raise families.
